Bearing an extraordinary combination of fruit from a trifecta of Napa Valley’s most celebrated vineyard blocks, the 2012 Cor Leonis Cabernet is the epitome of our winemaking philosophy. Announcing itself with ripe black fruit on the nose, the wine bears all the hallmarks of a classic storied cabernet. Lush in the mouth, the wine teases with cocoa powder, hints of sweet vanilla, and wet stone. Twenty four months of framing in 90% new French oak provides elegant framing for this wine’s concentration and boldness. With its seamless integration of both sweet and finely grained tannins, the wine is opulent on the palate, and delivers a silky finish of length and elegance.

This richly expressive wine draws its prized fruit from Beckstoffer's heralded To Kalon Vineyard, Pritchard Hill, and Caldwell Vineyard’s legendary Block-15 – whose vines have flourished in the rocky, volcanic soils of the heralded Coombsville District for over 30 years. The clone of Cabernet grown on this vineyard is prized for its complexity and depth, and the company of wines sourced from this vineyard is noteworthy.

2013 Moone-Tsai Cor Leonis Cabernet Sauvignon

Scheduled Release - September 2016

Bearing an extraordinary combination of fruit from a trifecta of Napa Valley’s most celebrated vineyard blocks, the 2013 Cor Leonis Cabernet is the epitome of our winemaking philosophy. Beyond its deeply ruby hues, the wine’s alluring nose beckons with notes of blackberry, anise, and hints of softly tanned leather. This enticing invitation notwithstanding, the hallmarks of this brilliant 2013 vintage assert their notability with the dense flavors of ripe blackberry, blueberry, and black plum. Lush in the mouth, the wine teases further with hints of mocha and cocoa nib. Twenty four months of aging in 75% new French oak provides elegant framing for this wine’s concentration and boldness. With its seamless integration of both sweet and finely grained tannins, the wine is opulent on the palate, and delivers an indulgently silky finish of length and elegance.
